Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Howlader has joined Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as Secretary on 14 June, 2022. Prior to that, he held the post of Secretary to government of the people’s republic of Bangladesh at Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Bangladesh. In last 31 years, Mr. Howlader worked in numerous vital positions of the govt. including Secretary, Divisional Commissioner, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Assistant Commissioner (Land), Magistrate, Assistant Commissioner etc.
From 2017 to 2019, Mr. Howlader gathered valuable experiences in regards to health sector of Bangladesh while working as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary at the then undivided Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and also at Health Education and Family Welfare Division.
During his journey of excellence, he worked notably as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Satkhira District and Commissioner of Khulna Division. Mr. Howlader also worked in numerous Ministries and Departments including Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Local Government Division, Bangladesh Parjatan (Tourism) Corporation, Department of Environment etc. His interpersonal skills, pro-people activities, honesty and dynamic coordination skills eventually got him the highest position of the government. Thus, he was appointed as Secretary at Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Bangladesh.
Mr. Howlader was born in a renowned Muslim family of Barishal District. He studied Bsc in Agriculture and Msc in Agronomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), and later achieved his PhD from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University.
